Mathematics & Law

Formula & Calculation Logic

Mathematical Formula
Net Advance Tax = Total Estimated Tax Liability - TDS/TCS Credits. Installments: 15% by 15 June, 45% by 15 Sept, 75% by 15 Dec, 100% by 15 March

Under Section 208, every taxpayer whose estimated net tax liability (after deducting TDS and TCS) exceeds ₹10,000 in a Financial Year is legally required to pay advance tax in four statutory installments: (1) 15% on or before June 15, (2) 45% (cumulative) on or before September 15, (3) 75% (cumulative) on or before December 15, and (4) 100% on or before March 15. Delay in installment payments attracts 1% monthly interest under Section 234C, and default in paying at least 90% tax by year-end attracts 1% monthly interest under Section 234B.

Expert Advisory Recommendation:

Online estimations provide mathematical clarity, but real-world filing involves matching multiple source ledgers (AIS/TIS, Form 26AS, GSTR-2B, broker P&L). Consult with an EasyFile Tax Specialist before submitting statutory tax returns to avoid mismatch intimations.
